Electronic Business
Electronic business, also known as Electronic Commerce or E-Commerce may be defined as:
- Any process that a business organisation conducts over computer-mediated network channels
- Commerce that is transacted electronically, as over the Internet
- The buying and selling of products and services bu businesses and consumers over the Internet. Is at times subdivided into three categories: business to business B2B (for example Cisco), business to consumer B2C (for example Amazon) and consumer to consumer or C2C (for example eBay).
The increased global usage of methods of E-Business may largely be attributed to rapid technological development over recent years, with the Internet serving as a highly influential factor of consideration for consumers when deciding which shopping methods to utilise, in the most effective fufillment of their needs and wants. Such a choice on the behalf of consumers is of direct impact to wholesalers and retailers alike. Increased usage of computer technology for electronic business transactions, has further served in increasing both the efficiency of and time taken in the physical distribution of goods.
